RUSLAN Y LYUDMILA ENGLISH TRANSLATION EXTRACT

Руслан и Людмила by Александр Сергеевич Пушкин (1799-1837) This video is in English language, although it has the text in both - Russian and English. Please watch also the video in Russian. It is a famous extract of the poem, where Ruslan, the prince who is looking for his kidnapped young beautiful wife Ludmila, meets with the huge Head (the brother of the kidnapper). Russians call the scene "Boy Ruslana s golovoy" - The Battle of Ruslan against the Head. The poem is rather long. It is a fairy-tale with many real historical pieces, like the (traits of) character of the main hero (main character Ruslan), the armor of the warrior, the details of Russian nature background, the traditions of first Russian princes (russkie knyazya - 10th century).
